Winding the bobbin – Elna Lotus EC ZZ TSP Sewing Machine Instruction Manual

For the usual sewing jobs, you will do well to use a medium-size needle.

1. Turn the safety dial to bobbin winding.
Make sure that it is properly engaged.

2. Place the bobbin on the bobbin Winder with the holes on top.

3. Pull out the spool pin and place the spool on it.

4. Raise the thread guide and passed the thread through it.

5. Wind the end of the thread around the bobbin by hand, in the direction indicated.

6. Wind by machine, while pressing lightly on the spool with the left hand, so that the thread will be stretched and the bobbin wound more evenly.
Important: watch the bobbin and stop winding just before the bobbin is completely full.

7. Turn the safety dial to sewing. It will remain in that position as long as you use the machine.

Inserting the bobbin

8. Drop it into rotary hook, with the holes facing upward. There is no bobbin case. Past the thread through the slot (a). Retain the bobbin with the left index finger. Bring the thread round to the front, at the angle Illustrated (b).

9. Close the rotary Hook cover and draw the thread into the notch with a slight tug to the rear. It then snaps into the tension spring automatically.

10. Open the rotary Hook cover and check by pulling the thread gently towards the rear. It should not come out of the slot. If it does, repeat the operation as explained under 8 and 9 above.

11. To change the bobbin, pull the extractor down into the bobbin. When it is released, the bobbin is automatically removed.
