• Raise the thread take-up lever to the highest position by turning the balance wheel counterclockwise.
• Raise the presser foot lifter.
• Place a spool of thread on the spool pin, with thread coming off as shown.

1. Draw the end of thread around the upper thread guide.

2. While holding the thread near the spool, draw the end of the thread down around the check spring holder.

3. Firmly draw the thread up from right to left over the take-up lever and down into the take-up lever eye.

4. Slide the thread behind the needle bar thread guide on the left.

5. Thread the needle from front to back or use the needle threader.

Raise the thread take-up lever to the highest position by turning the balance wheel towards you.

Raise the presser foot with the presser foot lifter and pass the thread in the order of 1 to 8.

1. Pass the thread through the top cover thread guide.

2. Draw the thread down around the thread guide and into the tension.

3. Then down around the check spring holder.

4. Firmly draw the thread from left to right over the take-up lever and down into the take-up lever eye.

5-6. Then down through the lower thread guides.

7. Slide the thread behind the needle bar thread guide on the left.

8. Thread the needle from front to back.

Raise the presser foot.
Place a spool on the spool pin as shown, with thread coming from back of the spool.

 

1. Draw the thread into thread guide using both hands.
2. While holding the thread near spool, draw thread down into the tension area and then around the check spring holder.
3. Firmly draw the thread up and through the take–up lever from right to left.

4. Then draw the thread down and slip it into needle bar thread guide on the left.
5. Thread the needle eye from front to back.

1. Raise take-up lever 5 to its highest point.
2. Place spool of thread on spool pin at top of machine
3. Pass thread through thread guide 1
Down, under and from right to left be­ tween tension discs 2 ( thread guard J, Fig. 9 guiding thread between discs).
4. Hold spool tightly and pull thread against take-up spring 4 until it enters retaining fork 3
5. Pass thread from right to left through hole 5 in take-up lever
Down through guide 6 on face plate Into guide 7 on needle bar bushing Into guide 8 on needle clamp
From right to left through eye 9 of needle. Draw about two inches of thread through eye of needle with which to start sewing.
